I'm a bit disappointed with the amount of open-division teams participating in this year's PA West tourney, but it still should be a good time. Plum is in our division again, which gives us a chance to put last year's unlucky 1-0 loss behind us.

See you 9am Saturday!

Report: Rhode Island permits 16-year old strippers, Brian H misses playoff game to go to Rhode Island

Perhaps it's just coincidence, but it's just been reported that Rhode Island law permits minors as young as 16 years old to perform in gentlemen's clubs. It shouldn't be surprising then when Brian H missed Saturday's playoff game to go where??? You guessed it, Rhode Island.

United lose to Montour

What can be said? A bad ending to a good season. The one lesson we can take from the game - particularly for you college guys - is that when we went down to nine players, we started being responsible with the ball, which is how we need to play all of the time. We worked hard off of the ball and played quick and simple passes. Because of this, and despite the fact that we had no subs and were playing two men down against a good team, we carried the play.

Thanks to everyone for a great season!

Apparently the PA West holds a referee clinic at Cal U every year, and

The Douchebag Anthem

United Defeat Strikers 1-0, Advance to League Semi's

A late goal by Ian H was all it took to see off the first-place
strikers.

United will likely play top-seeded Montour next Saturday at Dick's
Sporting Goods SportsPlex at 1pm.

United to play Strikers tomorrow at 6PM

The league finally came around and corrected the seedings. We are now playing at 6PM against the Strikers on field "E".

United Routs Sporting to Take 2nd Place, Playoff Berth

JP scored his first goal in his first game of the season inside of 15' off of a nice pass by Zach, to begin what was to become a 5-1 rout of Sporting Club in a must-win game for both clubs. Stush had the play of the game and exorcised the ghosts of the previous game between these two clubs with a diving save off of a well-taken penalty to preserve the 1-0 lead late in the first half. Soon after the save, Matt and Chatham both scored to take a 3-0 lead into the break.

Ron the Ref briefly made things interesting by awarding a penalty for Sporting, which they converted, for a blatant dive...but a make-up call was quickly forthcoming that that Neal easily put away. Josh H capped off the scoring.

GPSL playoff info

The GPSL playoffs are being held Sunday at the Dick's Sporting Goods SportsPlex at Graham Park in Cranberry. All games will be played at either 4PM or 6PM.

Do it

Game on. 11am Saturday morning at DL. We're going to be missing guys - they're going to be missing guys - the deeper team will win and go to the playoffs on Sunday.

Update

Pwnage lost to BHF in their makeup game, which means that Strikers have 32 points with all games played, Pwnage now has 27 points with all games played, Sporting has 26 points with one game to play, and we have 23 points with one game to play. If we beat Sporting, we will move into a three-way tie with Pwnage and Sporting and with the first tie-breaker being goal differential, we will advance.

As of now we play at home Saturday at 11AM. Should we win, we will play in the playoffs the following day at the fields on Reis Run Road.

Sporting though is asking the league to make us forfeit the game we have yet to play with them because they couldn't field a full team in the final 10 days of the season and they claim that it is our fault.

Here's an e-mail I wrote to the manager of Sporting that sums up the situation.

SRN forfeits final game to us....No game Thursday

Stay tuned to find out about Saturday. Strikers are on top with 32 points and all games played. We currently sit in fourth place on 23 points while Sporting and Pwnage have 26. All three of us have one game remaining according to the standings. I'll post more as it comes in.

Sporting solved (perhaps)

If the league approves, we will be playing Sporting sometime on Saturday at home.
It's unreal the amount pressure it took just to get these guys to play us. Hopefully we can show them that their trepidation was well-founded.

No game Tuesday

SRN is now rescheduled for 7:00 Thursday. As of now that is the only game scheduled

(un)Sporting Pgh

Still no final resolution to this mess, but I have a plan to make sure we don't get hosed.
Stay tuned.

To recap, they believe that they will get into the playoffs by not allowing us the opportunity to play them. Their manager is now not returning anyone's call - including the league president's. Honestly, i'm not sure if the league will do much, but I'll find out tomorrow if we have a 'plan b'.

Spotting Pittsburgh Update

Spoke to the league president. The game's going to happen, it's just a question of if it is on Wednesday or Thursday. I still can't believe the douchebaggery of that team!

This does not impact our 6:30 game tomorrow!

Spotting P***ies

In 13 years in the league, I've never seen a team so blatantly try to avoid playing us. The scenario could unfold that by refusing to play the game, Spotting could go through instead of us. I'm in touch with league officials now and I'm awaiting their response. The league tends to assume all teams like to play the game, and I don't remember a team ever being as unsportsmanlike as this.

Here's a text conversation I had with their coach this morning.

alleghenyutd19
We're cleared to play on Wednesday.

"Spotting"
Maybe we are on 26 points and that may get us through

"Spotting"
We may not play is what i am saying because we may already be through

alleghenyutd19
...we're not going to forfeit, though.

alleghenyutd19
Lets see some updated standings. 7 pm on wednesday? Keep it scheduled for now but i just wanted to give you the fyi.

The road to the playoffs continues Tuesday

...6:30 against SRN Stars at home...tomorrow
